Might be good to add a dropping projectile: say an egg or "dropping" itself. The egg could crack on landing while a dropping could splat. A cracked egg could spawn life itself... For a 2D vertical game, with player well below the duck, the collected projectile could be a weapon. In the arcade game Wonder Boy, most eggs are good ones (giving vitality, etc) while some are bad (with mould), which takes away player energy.
